When I initially started down the path of becoming a coach, I didn't start out with the idea of confronting internalized oppression.
I wanted to become a coach because coaching opened up a world of possibilities for me, and I wanted to help others expand their possibilities, too.
Still, even with these new found possibilities, I was constantly battling self-doubt about what I was capable of as a Black woman. I knew I had the aptitude for whatever I wanted to do. I just wasn't sure dreams were a reality for women like me.
The statistics played over and over in my head like a bass drum. For example, I knew even though Black women are the most educated group in the United States, we still make 35% less than white men.
