In 2018, I had a problem.
Fresh from a mental health-induced sabbatical, I'd decided that full-time law practice no longer aligned with my path.
I wanted to dive headfirst into coaching, a profession that lit me up inside. But I needed income while building my coaching practice.
So what was a woman with a law degree and a dream to do?
I decided I had three options:
Take on part-time legal clients. The upside? Financial stability. The reality? "Part-time" legal work is a myth. Even one case can consume your life entirely.
Go all-in on coaching. The benefit? Full immersion in work I love. The challenge? Client acquisition as a coach proved far more difficult than as a lawyer, meaning minimal initial income.
Join the gig economy by delivering groceries. This would provide both cash flow and the flexibility to build my business.
Option three made the most logical sense. I just wasn’t sure my ego could handle it.
