Our Brand Is Hope
Dear Worthy Woman,
Women of color have been handed a brand that doesn't belong to us, and that brand is struggle.
We're told our story is one of making the least, of fighting harder for less recognition, of carrying communities on our backs while our knees buckle.
But struggle isn't our birthright. It's merely the label oppression has placed upon us.
What truly defines us is our inexplicable, defiant hope. It’s hope beyond reason. Hope that persists despite every logical reason to abandon it. Our ability to imagine beyond current circumstances isn't magical, it's ancestral.
There is no logical reason for us to hope and express joy given what we've endured in this country. Yet here we are, still dreaming, still laughing, still line dancing our way to joy, even with everything the current Trump administration has thrown at us.
