Dear Worthy Woman,
The other day, I came across a scroll-stopping Instagram post that perfectly aligns with what I’ve been talking to you about lately—seeing last year clearly and slow-cooking our goals and dreams.
The post was from Chad Sanders, a former Google employee turned writer, director, actor, and musician. In it, he described sitting in his cubicle at Google and doing all the "right" things as a high-achieving Black professional.
But underneath it all, he knew he was "funkier and gnarlier" than his corporate job. He knew he was a star.
Unfortunately, that knowing was buried for years under layers of insecurity, feelings of inferiority to white colleagues, and comparison to other professionals of color who seemed to know how to play the game better.
Sanders numbed the voice telling him that he was meant for more with alcohol, overworking, and trying to convince himself to be "regular."
